Sunday Post, No. 5

Sunday Post is a weekly blog meme hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and is a place to share weekly goings on. I'd love to share my week with you!

Happy Easter, friends! I hope you're having a nice day with your friends and family. I'm going to spend the day with my husband and we're going to a friend's house for dinner.

This week has been a big one for me. I finished my novel this week. Next week I'll read it and see where I'm at, then do some edits before I let my friends and husband read it. After that, more edits, and then maybe I'll publish. So this has been a pretty exciting week for me. It's also been a little overwhelming because edits are a lot and I know I have that coming up on the horizon and, I won't lie, I'm a little bit nervous.

I'm also finishing up the spring semester for my college courses and I'll have grades to submit for my students soon. I'm excited to have some time off in the summer to work on my own projects.

What I'm reading this week

I'm still trying to find time to get through Pumpkin Spice Cafe, but I'm also reading Falling on a Duke, which I got from NetGalley and so far, it's really cute!

19th-century England. Benjamin Gerard Waldorf, the Duke of Waldorf, has resigned himself to a life of duty and responsibility. But when an antique cameo unexpectedly transports him 200 years into the future, his world is turned upside down.Isabella Souza Kato, a struggling writer in London, is grappling with creative block after a painful breakup. Just as she’s ready to give up on love, a chance encounter with a man claiming to be from the 1800s alters her life completely.

As they navigate the complexities of time, culture, and their own hearts, Benjamin and Isabella must confront their fears and insecurities if they want to find a future together.

Will Benjamin find a way back to his rightful place, or will he choose to forge a new path with Isabella?

That's it for me this week. I hope you've all had a lovely week and that you have a happy Easter Sunday!

Sunday Post, No. 4

Sunday Post is a weekly blog meme hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and is a place to share weekly goings on. I'd love to share my week with you!

Instead of being gloomy here this week, it's been downright cold and last night it snowed! I'm ready for spring, I hope it comes soon. All the buds on the trees suggest to me that it's coming, but who could tell with the 35 degree days?

I did not end up making the Kolaches... yet, but I'm planning to do it soon. If I make them, I'll share the recipe. My husband is chomping at the bit to get his hands on some good old Texas Kolaches. Otherwise, this week has been busy with grading for my university class and running around doing errands. I went to New York last weekend with a friend, then Sunday I met with another friend on Zoom. So, at least my busy week has been filled with friends!

The one thing I didn't have this week was time to read, which was a real bummer. Work just completely took over my life, but that happens as the semester draws to a close. I'll have plenty of reading time when my classes are through at the end of the month.

What I'm reading this week

When Jeanie's aunt gifts her the beloved Pumpkin Spice Café in the small town of Dream Harbor, Jeanie jumps at the chance for a fresh start away from her very dull desk job.

Logan is a local farmer who avoids Dream Harbor's gossip at all costs. But Jeanie's arrival disrupts Logan's routine and he wants nothing to do with the irritatingly upbeat new girl, except that he finds himself inexplicably drawn to her.

Will Jeanie's happy-go-lucky attitude win over the grumpy-but-gorgeous Logan, or has this city girl found the one person in town who won't fall for her charm, or her pumpkin spice lattes…

The Pumpkin Spice Café is a cozy romantic mystery for fans of Gilmore Girls, with a grumpy x sunshine dynamic, a small-town setting and a HEA guaranteed!

I loved them so much, I bought the paperbacks for Lyla Sage's Rebel Blue Ranch novels. The last book will be here on the 15th and I cannot wait! So far, I've been listening to them on Audible, but I love the covers so much and the stories are so good, I had to add them to my permanent collection!

That's it for this week! I hope you all have a lovely week and had lots of time to read.

Sunday Post, No. 3

Sunday Post is a weekly blog meme hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and is a place to share weekly goings on. I'd love to share my week with you!

It's been a gloomy week here in western Pennsylvania with lots of rainy afternoons and cloud filled skies. But, it's warming up and I can feel spring coming! I'm still sick, but starting to finally get over the bug, thank goodness. Otherwise, I've been doing my fair share of reading and now, I've started writing again so I'm doing my share of that, too.

Something fun from this week, my husband is trying to talk me into making him Texas Kolaches. When we lived in Texas, where he grew up, his favorite thing to eat was these sausage kolaches that came from the donut shop. But, now that we're no longer in Texas, he can't find them anywhere which is a bummer because it's been ten years since we lived in Texas. The problem is that I never bake with yeast because yeast can be pretty finicky. So we're at a stalemate since he doesn't cook or bake. He loves kolaches so much, he's wearing me down, but don't tell him that!

What I'm reading this week

This week I'm reading/listening to Swift and Saddled by Lyla Sage. I loved the first book in this series so much I'm on to the second book. And, just like the first book, I love the cover so much! These covers are so fun!

She’s the city girl who refuses to be saddled with a man. He’s the cowboy who wants her anyway.

The last thing Ada Hart needs is a man to take care of her. Not anymore. After failing out of her interior design program and the disaster that was her short-lived marriage, Ada clawed her way up from her rock bottom. Now, the only person she trusts is herself, and that has gotten her further than ever before. She has her own business, and one of the largest ranches in Wyoming just hired her for the most important project of her career.

When Ada arrives in Meadowlark, she finds herself in a dive bar where she can’t seem to shake the eyes of a handsome cowboy. When she leads him to the back of the bar, he leaves her with a kiss that most people can only fantasize about. She almost regrets that she’ll never see him again . . . except it turns out he’s her new boss.

Weston Ryder is a happy guy. Even happier now that the mystery woman from the bar is the interior designer for his dream project on his family’s ranch. He feels like he hit the jackpot. It’s too bad she wants absolutely nothing to do with him outside of work. Ada is convinced the pull she feels toward Wes will go away, but Wes can’t stop thinking about her. Even though walls are coming down around Rebel Blue, Ada’s walls are firmly in place.

Can they make it through this project without giving in? Or will they both put their dreams on the line for a chance at love?

While I didn't get any books in the mail this week, I did get a few titles for my Kindle. None of them are new books, but I love a good historical romance so I pick them up whenever I find a good deal.

That's it for this week! I hope you all have had a lovely week this week and who knows, maybe by next week I'll have pictures of kolaches to share.

Sunday Post, No. 2

Sunday Post is a weekly blog meme hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and is a place to share weekly goings on. I'd love to share my week with you!

I mentioned last week I was sick and... I'm still sick. Upper respiratory infection can go away already, I'm pretty sick of being sick. Otherwise, my work as an online English instructor has kept me busy with grading this week, but I still managed to read two books, so I feel good about that. I also got some writing time in, which always makes me feel good. All in all, it's been a good week!

What I'm reading this week

My current read is Shadows so Cruel by Liv Zander. It's the second book in the Court of Ravens Duology and so far, I'm enjoying it almost as much as I did the first book. Zander has a way with words, the book is dark and the characters are multifaceted. Great story telling with this series.
Shadows so Cruel is a full-length dark fantasy romance novel, and book two in the Court of Ravens duet. The two-part story features two morally gray raven shifters, a young woman at the mercy of their shadows, and a HEA. This world contains dark elements, violence, and themes some may find disturbing. Readers can find more detailed information on the author's website. What this book doesn't contain is a hero - because villains do it better. And two do it better than one…

I got just one book this week, but it's so cute, I can't wait to read it! I've been seeing this series all over social because a new book just came out, so I got this first in the series and it's sitting right on top of my TBR!

That's it for this week. I hope you've had a great week and that next week is too!

Sunday Post, No. 1

It's my first Sunday Post and I'm excited to share my weekly recap with you! Sunday Post is a weekly blog meme hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and is a place to share weekly goings on. Let's go!

This week has been productive, even though I've been sick for a week and a half. They say I have a viral upper respiratory infection, so that's made keeping up with things a bit hard, but it gave me some time to start working on my instagram account! If you're on Insta, I'd love a follow.

What I'm reading this week

I started reading Feathers so Vicious by Liv Zander, but didn't get as far as I'd like because I have a 5 1/2 month old puppy that keeps me busy, on top of work and being sick. Have you read this? I'm enjoying it so far. It's a dark romantasy and book 1 of 2.

Feathers so Vicious is a full-length dark fantasy romance novel, and book one in the Court of Ravens duet.

In the Mail this week

I got some books from book outlet, a book box from Reveal Book Box, and a new Kindle this week! My old Kindle was getting so slow, bless it's heart, so it was time to get myself a new one. I got the Metallic Raspberry Kindle Paperwhite and it's so fast. I forgot turning pages could be so fast. It's also pretty, which won't matter much soon when I put a case on it, but for now it looks really sleek.

From Reveal

From Book Outlet:

That's a wrap on my week! It was pretty productive, I hope your week was too. If you're here, drop me a comment, I'd love to visit you back.
