Can't-Wait Wednesday: Soul Searching by Lyla Sage

Can't-Wait Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by Wishful Endings and spotlights books we're excited for but haven't read yet.

This week's Can't-Wait book is Soul Searching by Lyla Sage. I am a huge Lyla Sage fan and she has a new duology coming out in September, and I am dying to read it!

Synopsis
Release date
: September 30, 2025

Home is where the heart is—and this one is haunted.

The #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Rebel Blue Ranch series returns with a brand-new story, featuring a small-town upholsterer in need of a fresh start, a photographer whose life has come to a screeching halt . . . and the supernatural forces that bring them together.

Collins Cartwright does not want to go home. Sweetwater Peak, Wyoming, was supposed to be in her rearview mirror, but when she finds out a developer is trying to buy her parents’ antique shop out from under them, she doesn’t have a choice—at least, that’s what she tells her family. They don’t need to know she’s lost her job and is out of money. Or that the ghosts that have always been her companions have recently gone silent.

But just because she’s returned home doesn’t mean she has to stay with her parents or crash on her twin sister’s couch. Lucky for her, the new-to-town upholsterer has a room for rent above his store. Unluckily, it is absolutely crawling with more ghosts who are freezing her out. And Collins hates being ignored.

Brady Cooper is absolutely and totally fine. Seriously, there’s no secret reason why he decided to uproot his life and suddenly move to Sweetwater Peak. He just needed a change of pace. At least, that’s what he tells himself. And everyone else.

When he agrees to let the elusive Collins Cartwright stay in his spare room, he doesn’t know that she’s absolutely bonkers—constantly talking to herself and having conversations with no one—or that she looked like that. But as they begin to get closer, the lines between them start to blur, leaving both of them—and the ghosts that have been pushing them together—wondering whether or not their temporary arrangement could be something more permanent.

So far, everything Sage has written has been sweet cowboy romance, so that this book has a supernatural element is interesting and new. September is a long way off so I'm hoping a chance for an ARC will appear somewhere along the way, maybe on NetGalley.

What's your Can't-wait book this week?

Can't-Wait Wednesday: A Witch's Guide to Magical Innkeeping

Can't-Wait Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by Wishful Endings and spotlights books we're excited for but haven't read yet.

This week's Can't-Wait book is A Witch's Guide to Magical Innkeeping by Sangu Mandanna. This book looks adorable. Just look at this cute cover!

Synopsis
Release Date: July 15, 2025

Sera Swan used to be one of the most powerful witches in Britain. Then she resurrected her great-aunt Jasmine from the (very recently) dead, lost most of her magic, befriended a semi-villainous talking fox, and was exiled from her Guild. Now she (slightly reluctantly and just a bit grumpily) helps her aunt run an enchanted inn in Lancashire, where she deals with her quirky guests' shenanigans, tries to keep said talking fox in check, and longs for the future that seems lost to her. But then she finds out about an old spell that could hold the key to restoring her power…

Enter Luke Larsen, handsome and icy magical historian, who arrives on a dark winter evening and might just know how to unlock the spell’s secrets. Luke has absolutely no interest in getting involved in the madcap goings-on of the inn and is definitely not about to let a certain bewitching innkeeper past his walls, so no one is more surprised than he is when he agrees to help Sera with her spell. Worse, he might actually be thawing.

Running an inn, reclaiming lost magic, and staying one step ahead of the watchful Guild is a lot for anyone, but Sera Swan is about to discover that she doesn’t have to do it alone...and that the weird, wonderful family she’s made might be the best magic of all.

I'm on a cozy romance kick right now, so this book charming book looks like it's right up my alley. I'm looking forward to picking this one up when it's out in July! So what about you? Does this look like something you'd read?

Can't-Wait Wednesday: Any Trope by You

Can't-Wait Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by Wishful Endings and spotlights books we're excited for but haven't read yet.

This week's Can't-Wait book is Any Trope but You by Victoria Lavine. I love a good happily ever after and this book looks so fantastic. I can't wait to get my paws on it! While it just published last week, I haven't picked it up just yet.

Synopsis

Release date: April 1, 2025
Kindle Unlimited: No
Beloved romance author Margot Bradley has a dark secret: she doesn’t believe in Happily Ever Afters. Not for herself, not for her readers, and not even for her characters, for whom she secretly writes alternate endings that swap weddings and babies for divorce papers and the occasional slashed tire. When her Happily Never After document is hacked and released to the public, she finds herself canceled by her readers and dropped by her publisher.

Desperate to find a way to continue supporting her chronically ill sister, Savannah, Margot decides to trade meet-cutes for murder. The fictional kind. Probably. But when Savannah books Margot a six-week stay in a remote Alaskan resort to pen her first murder mystery, Margot finds herself running from a moose and leaping into the arms of the handsome proprietor, making her fear she’s just landed in a romance novel instead.

The last thing Dr. Forrest Wakefield ever expected was to leave his dream job as a cancer researcher to become a glorified bellhop. What he’s really doing at his family’s resort is caring for his stubborn, ailing father, and his puzzle-loving mind is slowly freezing over—until Margot shows up. But Forrest doesn’t have any room in his life for another person he could lose, especially one with a checkout date.

As long snowy nights and one unlikely trope after another draw Margot and Forrest together, they’ll each have to learn to overcome their fears and set their aside assumptions before Margot leaves—or risk becoming a Happily Never After story themselves.

How cute is this cover? I just love the animated covers that're gracing the front of a lot of books these days. It's a nice change from all the swoony covers with hunky men on them. What book are you waiting for this week?

Can't-Wait Wednesday: The Irresistible Urge to Fall For Your Enemy

Can't-Wait Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by Wishful Endings and spotlights books we're excited for but haven't read yet.

This week's Can't-Wait book is The Irresistible Urge to Fall For Your Enemy by Brigitte Knightley. This book comes out in July and I can't wait. Check out this cover, it's gorgeous! The black and pink just make this cover pop!

Synopsis
The first in a slow burn, enemies-to-lovers romantasy duology featuring a scholarly healer and a gentleman assassin, set in an exquisite fantasy world, perfect for fans of The Love Hypothesis and Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries.

Osric Mordaunt, member of the Fyren Order of assassins, is in dire need of healing. Naturally – such is the grim comedy of fate – the only healer who can help is Aurienne Fairhrim, preeminent scientist, bastion of moral good, and member of an enemy Order.

Aurienne is desperate for funding to heal the sick - so desperate that, when Osric bribes her to help him, she accepts, even if she detests him and everything he stands for.

A forced collaboration ensues: the brilliant Woman in STEM is coerced into working with the PhD in Murders, much to Aurienne's disgust. As Osric and Aurienne work together to heal his illness and investigate the mysterious reoccurrence of a deadly pox, they find themselves ardently denying their attraction, which only fuels the heat between them.
I'm waiting for this one because who doesn't love a good enemies to lovers story? This one looks like fun and I love a book that's part of a duology because it means there'll be more to love later.

What book are you waiting for this week?

Can't-Wait Wednesday: Wild and Wrangled

Can't-Wait Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by Wishful Endings and spotlights books we're excited for but haven't read yet.

My book this week is a cute romance from Lyla Sage. Wild and Wrangled is book 4 in the Rebel Blue Ranch Novel series. I'm currently listening to the first book in this series and also bought book 3 (accidently skipped book 2 but I'll get it when I have a credit), so I was happy to see a new book was coming soon. I absolutely love the covers for this series, they're all so cute and nostalgic.

 Synopsis

She’s the one that got away. He’s the one that never let her go.

From the bestselling author of Done and Dusted and Swift and Saddled, the next book in the Rebel Blue Ranch series, a small town romance in which past lovers get a second chance to rediscover what they lost.

Camille Ashwood had always loved a plan. Her latest was her best yet. She was going to get married so she could secure her daughter’s future, get her overbearing parents off her back, and finally start building her own life in small town Meadowlark, Wyoming. Easy, right?

But when her groom doesn’t show up to the wedding, Cam’s life is turned upside down—she doesn’t even have a place to live. That is, until she finds out the house she’s loved since high school is available to rent. There’s only one problem: the neighbor.

Dusty Tucker has spent nearly all of his adult life running. Running from what, though? More like who: Cam Ashwood. But ever since he returned home last year, the girl who was his first, well, everything has become a woman seemingly determined to keep him at arm’s length. And he was okay with that—at least, that’s what he kept telling himself. She was getting married, after all. But now she’s single and living next door. Dusty wants to show her that they can be friends, and that he can stay put.

Despite her best attempts to stay far away from Dusty Tucker, Cam realizes that being close to him is like slipping on her favorite jeans. Easy. Comfortable. That is until past wounds start to open and feelings—both old and new—wreak havoc. Nearly ten years after they first met, Dusty and Cam begin to wonder if their first love can also be their last. And this time, will it be forever?

I'm waiting for this one because I'm a sucker for a fun romance series. I read so many dark romances, I also need my fill of cute, fun romances.

Have you read anything by Lyla Sage? I'm really enjoying her work so far!

Can't-Wait Wednesday: The Austen Affair

This is my first Can't-Wait Wednesday! Can't-Wait Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by Wishful Endings and spotlights books we're excited for but haven't read yet.

My first Can't-Wait is The Austen Affair by Madeline Bell! As a huge Austen fan, this book is right up my alley and I am absolutely chomping at the bit to get a copy. But, the book doesn't release until September 16, 2025.

Synopsis
Two feuding co-stars in a Jane Austen film adaptation accidentally travel back in time to the Regency Era in this delightfully clever and riotously funny debut.

Tess Bright just scored her dream role starring in an adaptation of Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey. It's not just the role of a lifetime, but it’s also her last chance to prove herself as a serious actress (no easy feat after being fired from her last TV gig) and more importantly, it’s her opportunity to honor her mom, who was the biggest fan of Jane Austen ever. But one thing is standing in Tess’s way—well, one very tall, annoyingly handsome person, actually: Hugh Balfour.

A serious British method actor, Hugh wants nothing to do with Tess (whose Teen Choice Awards somehow don’t quite compare to his BAFTA nominations). Hugh is a type-A, no-nonsense, Royal Academy prodigy, whereas Tess is big-hearted, a little reckless, and admittedly, kind of a mess. But the film needs chemistry—and Tess’s career depends on it.

Sparks fly, but not in the way Tess hoped, when an electrical accident sends the two feuding co-stars back in time to Jane Austen’s era. 200 years in the past with only each other to rely on, Tess and Hugh need to ad-lib their way through the Regency period in order to make it back home, and hopefully not screw up history along the way. But if a certain someone looks particularly dashing in those 19th century breeches…well, Tess won’t be complaining.

A wickedly funny, delightfully charming story, The Austen Affair is a tribute to Jane Austen, second chances, and love across the space-time continuum.

This book sounds hilarious! So, what about you, are you looking forward to this one? If you've stopped in for Can't Wait Wednesday, please leave a comment so I can visit you!
